[Why doesn’t the crankshaft turn when the engine starts?]
1. If the flywheel has more than three consecutive teeth damaged, and it is exactly opposite to the starter teeth, the two gears will not be able to mesh. In this state, just use a crowbar to pry the flywheel to an angle, and then press the start button to start smoothly. For damaged flywheel teeth, welding can generally be used to repair them.
2. When the ring gear is loose, it can be confirmed from the starter installation port of the flywheel housing. If the ring gear is loose, it must be replaced with a new one. When installing, heat the ring gear in a heating box first, then press it on the flywheel while it is hot, and fasten it on the flywheel after cooling.
3. When the teeth of the ring gear are severely worn on one side, the ring gear can be pressed down, and the front and rear end faces can be turned over before being installed on the flywheel for use.
4. After checking that the gear meshes normally, and the flywheel does not rotate when starting, it should be regarded as an internal fault of the engine, such as crankshaft locked, piston sticking to the cylinder, clutch sticking, etc., which should be further observed. You can first check whether the clutch is damaged and stuck, and then check whether the plunger of the fuel injection pump is stuck and whether there are foreign objects inside the engine and other faults.
[Why does the engine crank when it starts, but it doesn’t start (no smoke in the exhaust)]
1. Check whether the flameout cable of the fuel injection pump returns to its original position.
2. Whether there is oil in the fuel tank and whether the fuel tank switch is turned on.
3. Whether the fastening bolts of the control rod of the fuel injection pump and the drive connection plate have fallen off.
4. Loosen the air release screw on the fuel injection pump, pump oil with the hand pump to exhaust air.
5. Check the oil pipe for air leakage or blockage.
6. Check the fuel filter and oil-water separator for clogging.
7. The starter drives the engine to rotate, check whether the fuel pump pumps oil.
8. Loosen the fuel inlet pipe joint of the fuel injector, push the throttle to the bottom, press the starter switch, and check whether the fuel injection pump is pumping oil. If it does not pump oil, it means that the oil quantity adjustment lever is stuck in the fuel stop position (that is, the rack hairpin); If it is an A-type pump, the side cover of the fuel injection pump should be removed to check and troubleshoot; if it is a P-type pump, etc., corresponding measures should be taken.
9. Check whether the gas distribution timing is correct, if not, adjust it.
10. For an engine equipped with a VE pump, check whether the fuel cutoff solenoid valve and the control circuit are faulty. When it is confirmed that the oil cut-off solenoid valve is damaged, and a new solenoid cannot be found immediately to replace it, the emergency measure of dismantling the solenoid valve, taking out the plunger valve and spring and reinstalling it as it is, and taking power-off treatment to the solenoid valve (this method cannot Electric flameout, you can manually flameout).
[Why is it difficult or impossible to start the engine, and the exhaust pipe emits a lot of white smoke]
1. Use your hands to approach the outlet of the muffler of the exhaust pipe. If the hands are wet and there are water drops, it is confirmed that water has entered the cylinder.
2. Check whether there is water in the diesel oil. Check to see if there is a lot of water in the oil-water separator, if there is a lot of water, the fuel quality is poor. First of all, the water in the high and low pressure oil circuits should be removed; then the drain plug of the fuel tank should be opened to drain the water in the fuel tank, and finally the fuel tank should be flushed with clean diesel oil.
3. Open the water tank cover, press the starter button and observe whether there are bubbles on the water surface of the water filling port.
If there is water in the engine oil, or bubbles emerge from the water surface of the water inlet, it means that the cooling water has entered the cylinder.
4. Before disassembling the cylinder head, check the tightness of each bolt. If there are loose bolts, tighten them and check for water leakage. If there is still water leakage, proceed to the next step of inspection.
5. To further find the specific leaking parts, inflate the water tank with air, the pressure is not greater than 200kPa, open the oil pan, and check the leaking place at the bottom of the engine; then open the cylinder head to check the bottom of the cylinder head and the cylinder head gasket, and check the faulty part. For parts that leak water into the cylinder, replace them for repair or replace them with a new assembly
