There is a real customer case from Thailand, one of our clients built a diving boat on their own, they designed all systems on their own, and purchased the engine, gearbox, shaft, and propellers from different suppliers separately. The designed speed of their boat is 20 knots, but when their boat is on the water, it can reach 8 knots!
When they try to trace back where the problem comes from, the engine supplier tells them it’s a gear ratio problem, the gearbox supplier tells them it’s a propeller design problem, and the propeller supplier tells them it’s an engine power problem!
